Rothenburg ob der TauberPatti - 14. Mai 2018

Sometimes, living in Switzerland means visiting other countries in Europe for the day. Last Thursday was a holiday in Europe (Ascension Day), so Elias had a day off of school. We wanted to visit my parents, but neither of us had time to drive the entire six hours to see the other. As it happened, my brother was scheduled to bring his homeroom class through Europe on their Senior Trip starting on Thursday. Their first stop was Rothenburg ob der Tauber, an accessible 3 hour drive for both my parents and for us!

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a medieval city still surrounded by a wall that you can walk along. The picture above is supposedly one of the most photographed spots in Europe.

Our first stop was the Marktplatz, where a band was playing marches and Miri had a great time chasing pigeons!

We ate lunch at a pizzeria away from the main plaza, and enjoyed the true European experience of leisurely eating outside and people watching.

We met up with my brother and his group after lunch. Miri decided her Uncle Mike is a pretty cool guy and wanted to hold his hand a lot of our time walking around the city!

We spent the afternoon walking around the city wall and catching up with each other. Elias got some beautiful shots of the wall flora (if you haven't seen his Nature page yet, you should check it out!)

We said goodbye in the late afternoon, and we are already looking forward to seeing my parents again!

It was nice that you got to see Mike and his students and your mom and dad.
